Kinda sounds like eating in their rooms is allowed? Growing up, I always had to sit and eat at the dinner table or no food. Eating in my room sounds like a nice peaceful treat! Like many have said, they might have been tired of traveling. Plus sick and tired of being with each other too. But at least greeting you should have been done, no questions there.
My parents don't like eating at the table and they complain when they can't sit and watch TV. We only eat at a table as a family if we go out or for Christmas dinner :(
My family always makes it an option to eat together and occasionally I do. But considering my family is extremely religious and conservative and I'm very liberal and not religious a dinner table is the worst place for us to talk. There is no specific thing to talk about at the dinner table so it ends up be general conversation about everyone's day. This is a breeding pool of conflicting thoughts that only lead to fighting. TL;DR: Some families probably know that eating together too often is a bad idea for them.
Very ungrateful but perhaps they needed some time to settle back in? Give them a day and try to talk to them about how it made you feel. I think an apology or at least an explanation is needed
Sucks op, and definitely rude. I bet they appreciated it though. It's family, I sure someone already apologized and you all have moved on.
Next time mix in laxatives in the main dish. Sucks to be unappreciated but it's the thought that counts OP
Don't take it personally, I know after I get home from a trip all I want to do is spend some time by myself. They'll come around.
You weren't there to greet them? I'm sure if you were there they'd sit with you
They probably just needed their space :p although it was rude, being stuck together for a long time, hangry and jetlaged is a bad mix. Probably nicer to see them all after they have rested. :)
