that is awful, i can't begin to understand you friend. but i've had to look after patients with scabies and never got it, it seems to be something that mainly homeless people and people with self-neglect issues get in this country. also, the traditional old treatment is sulphur soap, that would be harmless to your baby and you can buy it on the internet.
you can take medication for it... Because the treatment is a cream/ lotion that you rub all over your body... That will not affect your unborn child...
Same happened to me, I was 5 months pregnant when I found out I gotten scabies. I got from my boyfriend who contracted it from his job. I had it for about two months because I hadn't known what it was until I pointed it out to my doctor. It was such a nightmare to get rid of. I happily got rid of scabies before I gave birth. Sadly I got it again months after giving birth because it stuck around my boyfriend's sisters who decided to go to his old room and watch tv on his bed. So much money wasted on buying the ointment to get it to completely go away. At the time I seriously thought it wouldn't go away but I'm very happy my son never got it because a baby cannot get treated for it until they are 9 months. I'm very sorry OP that you got it, I hope you get rid of it as soon as possible!
I had the symptoms for 3 weeks and had seen one GP and one dermatologist before a second dermatologist diagnosed me with scabies. It took 3 opinions because I didn't fit the 'social profile' for scabies. Your friend probably honestly didn't know she was infected, don't hold it against her. Neither my husband who shares my bed, nor my kids, nor the 3 month-old baby I babysat for a few hours got infected, so chances are you'll be fine.
I'm not sure what the experts say on the matter in Australia, but in the USA, the CDC approves the use of topical permethrin for treatment of scabies infection in both pregnant and lactating women. The other therapies however have either not been throughly studied or are associated with complications. Check with your doctor to see if he/she would recommend that.
That sucks. Hope you're okay. I wouldn't let her come near my baby after that until she or he is at least 3 years old.
I had scabies my first year into college. After being checked out and confirmed it was explained to me that they are only contagious if you share clothes or are close to one another for long periods of time. Really hope you didn't catch them from here, it's an itchy nightmare. Best of luck having the baby!

I hope you didn't catch anything, your friend is very inconsiderate to potentially put you through that!
