Rent hike to be expected

Today, my 63-year-old neighbor jumped out of his window. I was the first to find him, alive, naked and stuck in a bush. I guess I shouldn't have laughed at him while waiting for the ambulance, because he turned out to be my landlord. FML

I am fine with people having guns(legally of course) but I would have panicked or been very uncomfortable if a student did that in our class. I'm simply not comfortable around guns, especially if I'm not expecting someone to take the gun out. So doing that might have caused panic or fear in the classroom.

I don't think op was trying to be on either side, doing that probably caused some students to feel uncomfortable and maybe op as well.

@30, it depends on the security firm on how well those people are trained. The security on my campus is off-duty police officers and former military personnel so they are well-trained with their guns. Technically according to many security job openings in my state I am qualified to provide security on any number of job sites because I meet the qualifications of: being a U. S. citizen. Being licensed to work in the U. S. Being over 18 and having a high school diploma. It's considered a bonus that I have previous experience with firearms but they also don't ask what that experience is. For the record my previous experience was earning a hunting license when I was a minor that consisted of a written test. That is what some security companies consider "training."

Wow, he really "jump the gun" to prove your point!

You really hit the nail on the head there 23.

The teacher is a "French teacher" meaning nationality, not subject.

Never let a tragedy go to waste, eh, 28?

That's awesome, wish we could do that in the US

I understand that some people think when anyone is armed, student or trained, the safety depends on the mentality. Like for example, drugs. Or a mental illness. You can't always fully trust somebody who has access to a gun. A student having a gun is probably going to be encouraged by friends to play Dodge The Bullet or Shoot The Nerd instead of waiting to use it in an emergency like to protect the other students. If there was one I would be surprised if he has any bullets left.
