Sounds like you both need more walkies. Seriously. Not saying it's a cure but definitely a good start.
Take him for long walks and play with him everyday. It'll help both of you!
And labs are one of the most happiest breeds! FYL
then you should have bought a service animal. if its a lab take him for a couple extra walks. labadors have lots of energy. also make sure that what your feeding him has a meat and not a meat bi producy as thr first ingredient. malnutrition can manafest into depression. dogss are like people. and yea they can manafest there humans behaviors.
also. i wish you the best of luck. i know the situation as i haave struggled with both anxiety and depression my whole life. it helps to see a shrink. no matter how stupid they are... trust me i didnt want to. someone who focuses in behavioral cognitive psych. my rottie ended up manafesting my anxiety. he already had seperation anxiety when we got him but i noticed peple or things that made me anxious made him anxious. hes my baby and unfortunately we have a very special connectiom because of it. however. just play with your dog. love on him. you cant rely on him. but you can get exersizr and simultaneously increase the endorphins in your brain. ive strugled along time. trust me i know it sucks and we dont want to somedays but you gotta. bless you and your puppy!! if you belive in a god .. i reccomend looking at 1peter 5:7 it says cast your anxieties unto the lord because he cares for you. i have faith in you!
WALK YOUR DOG! Exercise is the #1 most effective treatment for depression. If you're not going for nice long walks with your dog, then of course the poor thing is going to get depressed. They need exercise just like people. So maybe you can't drag yourself off your couch for your own sake, but now you're responsible for another life. Take that dog for hour long walks every day and you'll both feel better.
You can help each other then. Dogs strongly pick up on their owners feelings and emotions. Go for more walks together. The exercise will help with your depression too.

I heard from a different FML that dogs usually mimic their owner's habits
I'm sorry OP. Maybe if you take him to a dog park he'll connect with some other dogs and cheer up - who knows, you might even connect with someone else yourself!
