This is why no one ever intervenes when children are being abducted, are having a heart attack or are just blatantly in the need of help. If you help them and something goes wrong they'll sue you.
YDI for swerving. For insurance purposes, you should always just try to stop and if you hit it, you hit it.
just remember, if you hit the dog, you would be painted as a villain on the news AND owe them money
It's just a dog... You should have made other drivers' lives your priority over a dog. YDI
Bet they would've demanded you pay vet bills if you'd hit it. Try explain to them why you swerved and split the bill, the dog shouldn't have been out of the yard without a leash and you shouldn't have swerved either way, technically both at fault.
Technically, it's their responsibility for the dog do they should be fined for not taking safety precautions for the dog that caused the accident
next time keep going and hope that dog runs fast enough if not stop by a drive through carwash on your way home problem solved
Your car or the dog You may pick now
