The holidays are always difficult when you have experienced a loss or break up. Holidays tend to be times when we and our society idealizes life and relationships and when reality falls so short of our expectations it hurts… Time will make it better. It takes time to get over a loss or breakup. Do something special for yourself on those days, just don’t go overboard or it will feel hollow and empty. You will eventually find someone else to love and who loves you. In the meantime keep yourself busy during these times. Do allow yourself to grieve your loss, but I do think it’s best to set an appropriate time limit on that grieving process.
My best friend of 10 years got dumped like literally on Christmas by a man who she was engaged to. Every Christmas is hard for her, but each one has gotten better. This is just to say whether you’re dealing with a break up or loss, there is a process you need to go through to grieve and heal, and I hope the healing finds you before long. Just know that this one aspect of your life, although it feels like it right now, is not the determiner of everything else in your life, the future, or all else that life has to offer. I know it’s hard but keep your chin up and good things will come your way. Good luck
