Snitched

Today, I went in to work and was handed a write-up for having lied about being sick in order to leave early yesterday. Apparently, a co-worker saw me leave the parking lot, then immediately pull into the shopping center next door. I was going to Walgreens for cold medicine. FML

And you couldn't explain this to your boss because..??

People are jerks. I could never work in an office and have to put up with crap like that. But at least it's not a difficult thing to explain, especially if you still have the receipt, and your co-worker will look like a douche.

Besides I don't know about the US, but in Germany you ARE allowed to go shopping when you are sick. You can do everything but things that will hinder your recovery, and shopping is definitely okay. (Apparently a couple of people sued their employers for firing them because - shock horror - they actually had to go grocery shopping while sick.) Just explain the situation and you will be fine.

I got reprimanded at work once because I came into the store in the evening to buy groceries when I had called in sick that morning. I was a sinusy mucousy mess and I had no food in my house. My husband and I were BOTH sick, so we came together so we could get it over faster and easier.

first of all, why do morons feel like putting this^ at the behinning of every post? second i cant be the only one sick of these he said she said so i got fired or written up or failed a class bullshit. why dont they all just grow a pair and either a) stick up for themselves and tell what really happened, or b) go over their head to a supervisor / owner / principal whatever, or hell you can sue for shit like wrongful termination. *******

"^" is to indicate they're talking about the post above, just like you would gesture at what you're talking about if you were having the conversation IRL and as far as I can see only one person has done that and it's an FML because he works with jerks who tattle like primary school children, not because he was fired because he didn't stand up for himself.

Indeed FYL. I also have a few backstabbing coworkers I have to tolerate at my job. Its like they regress into tattle tale 5yr olds, then try to pretend they didn't snitch over something trivial. They do the exact same thing then get whiny if another does it.

O.M.G. I HATE FMLS LIKE THIS! Instead of whining about this on the interent, why don't you just explain it to your boss? And give the person who reported you a piece of your mind.

if you hate it so much why did you take even more time in this FML to whine when it doesn't change anything?

just a hint....that's what this site is FOR! If you don't like it don't read them anymore you idiot.

Has it ever occurred to you that OP might have already tried that, but that there were complications or he just wanted an FML to post?

YDI for 'driving to the shopping centre next door' LAZYYYYYY.
