Collateral?
It happens, they'll get over it.
I have to admit, when starting to read it, I thought the fml would end in " I accidentally grabbed lower than I intended"... I guess I'm just a perv though.
I assumed he was gonna grab someone's pants and accidentally pull them off.
Not quite
Don't get too excited! You'll probably be hearing from their lawyers!
The "instinct" to place other people in the path of the harm you are causing by grabbing them to attempt to save yourself is actually one that's easily fought in adulthood, even in the heat of the moment. The FML is for the people you childishly brought down with you, without caring it seems (notice how the instinct to latch onto others during a fall goes away because it never works to save anyone?). Too bad you're not getting more YDIs for this.
I'm going to assume OP didn't grab onto someone and take extra people down with him for ***** and giggles. There's nothing childish about the reaction to grab something and steady yourself, why risk broken limbs if you don't have to? ''Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.'' - C.S. Lewis
I am a huge C.S. Lewis fan and that wasn't even close to the context that i used the word in. I knew I'd be in the minority here but oh well... I have never had the urge to grab onto someone when falling and I have been brought down by more than one person. The OP seems self absorbed as ****. He was so concerned about people not sympathizing with him and didn't say shit about the people he hurt. So yeah, YDI YDI YDI OP. I know he didn't mean to fall but he has to understand that people are gonna be pissed when some idiot grabs onto them to save themselves from falling.
agree
Talk about a domino effect. At least you weren't hurt (:

A pile of twigs breaks less easily than a single twig on its own. Great reflexes OP.
Well, I'm sorry nobody even asked if you or any of the other people were alright. People are rude, and it's not your fault you tripped. Shit happens, y'know?
