Today, my boss requested that I re-organize every file in the office, because she wanted the filing cabinets alphabetized right to left, not left to right. To thank me, she came into my office to give me one uncooked ear of corn. I think my boss has mistaken me for some kind of farm animal. FML

What?! Honestly, she gave you a corn as sign of gratitude and you try and take it the wrong way just to have something to post on fml.com? Are you this pathetic and attention hungry? With millions out there who have stressful jobs and not being appreciated AND also people who doesn't have jobs at all and yet have a family to feed, you decided that your life is F'd just because you are ungrateful with the gesture of gratitude your boss has showed you?!

Am I the only one who thinks this is an FML simply because you still use and are responsible for paper records? If my boss asked me to restructure our "filing cabinets" i.e. databases, it would be one click of the ascending/descending viewbar....

That's not the point. The thing is, the OP has more to be greatful for than claiming his/her life is F'd. Millions of people don't have a job but s/he has then her boss made a gesture of gratitude. Seems to me, she just expect way too much and just ungrateful of the things s/he has.

I'm not arguing that the intent of the post is focused on the gift giving. But my point is that I think it's far worse that the OP has to waste her time on BS like that, gift or no.

This isn't an FML because it is part of her job to do this organizational work. The fact that she got rewarded for it is just a bonus, a $0.33 bonus.

the ear of corn thing is a bit odd- though I actually do eat corn on the cob as a lunch or a snack. you are lucky to have a job. if it really makes it easier for her to do her job to have the files switched, then so what. even busy work is work after all.
