They grow up so fast…

Today, I found out that my daughter has been stuffing my push-up bras and lipstick into her backpack, putting them on at school, and taking them off before she gets home. She's 9. The only reason I found out is because her teacher reported me to social services. FML

This is a very sad commentary on the ways little girls feel pressured to grow up too fast. OP, this isn't a matter for Social Services, I'm sorry you went through that- but you need to help her understand she'll be a grown up for a long time and only a kid once....Good Luck!!

What is wrong with a 3rd grade teacher who goes to social services before requesting a conference with the parent...

Why did the teacher call social services?? All I see is a curious kid...

Overreacting much? The teacher I mean. Like if the teacher suspected you were beating your child or something, by all means, report it and do not approach the parent yourself. But over something like this? Now that is a bit too much.

How did she get access to a push up bra? Does she shop unattended or did she get it from a friend. Also what does a 9 year old even have to push up? Lol

She is going through her mothers things to get the push up bra. That is what the FML says.

#77, read the very first sentence in the FML.

These questions are so true and honest. I didnt even read ur comment before posting mine.

Actually that may not be true. I mean television, the Internet, and other older kids. She may have just envied an older girl and wanted to look like her but knew she would get in trouble (good parenting) so she wouldn't do it at home.

You should have been like most parents and check your child's backpack on a day to day basis

I'm fairly certain that parents don't check their child's backpack... That's kinda weird....

I think we're all forgettinf that it might not have been social or media problems at all. it could very well have been just a 9 yo being a 9 yo. they have imagination for a reason, they are also getting out.of their little kid ages and into their.preteen days. its uncomfortable and weird and OPs daughter could just be trying to get attention from friends or just joke around. and the teacher should have called OP first she was unprofessional and should be reported back for not telling the parent first

I feel bad for the OP. Things have changed and not for the better. I can never forget an article in the paper at work that said there would be a clothing line that was called getting older younger aimed at kids around 9 or 10 up to early teens. This was several years ago, but kids are getting access to stuff younger and younger. Because parents aren't aware they get games like Call of Duty or GTA. Kids are getting into so many things at an age where they really don't understand. This is especially true with a lot of kids now not having ever really known a time without internet and most parents can't keep up with technology.

seems like your daughter has more going on upstairs than you do.

I believe the term is "prosti-tot" when referring to the under 11 crowd

prosti tot? seriously? if you think a push up bra on a child makes them look like an adult or sexually available then you have a problem.
