They grow up so fast…

Today, I found out that my daughter has been stuffing my push-up bras and lipstick into her backpack, putting them on at school, and taking them off before she gets home. She's 9. The only reason I found out is because her teacher reported me to social services. FML

This is a very sad commentary on the ways little girls feel pressured to grow up too fast. OP, this isn't a matter for Social Services, I'm sorry you went through that- but you need to help her understand she'll be a grown up for a long time and only a kid once....Good Luck!!

What is wrong with a 3rd grade teacher who goes to social services before requesting a conference with the parent...

Do book bag checks because the media influence Is such a disaster and peer pressure there days

Look at it this way, she's rather a smart little cookie for coming up with her plan and also brave. But sounds like you should start to talk to her more. Find out what's on her mind before you lose complete control.

Damn that's crazy; I hope everything works out for you.

Thats why Teachers these days get no respect because of things like this. She went about it the wrong way, why couldn't she just call you and have a meeting of something.

Seriously people? This is ALL the medias fault? Any unacceptable behavior from children can be blamed on cartoons and music? That's total bullshit! Blaming the media is a scapegoat. It only takes a few minutes to teach a kid between real life and make believe (movies, tv, video games etc) I watched a hell of a lot bugs bunny growing up and managed to never drop an anvil on someone's head. It's ridiculous that SS was called before OP, but its also ridiculous to blame media. Kids do have other influences family, friends, teachers etc.

You need to have a serious talk because punishment won't fix this. Tell her that the reason most women on TV look like that is because there are a lot of other people that are better than them so they resort to using their bodies to keep people's attention on them.

gess who is going to win worst mom of the year award!

God damn nine year olds now a days and I thought 12 year olds were bad.

That is sick...first of all, why does your daughter want to wear that stuff at such a young age? And second, why did the teacher immediately call social services without calling you first? And third, why was social services even called? It's not like you were forcing your daughter to do this; you didn't even know about it. It makes me sick that kids are becoming more rebellious these days, and I'm sorry but at that rate, your daughter may end up pregnant at 13. It happens every day. And I thought my 16-year-old pregnant classmate was bad. Now I see girls knocked up at like 12. And why? Well, yes, the media does portray a certain image that young girls "are supposed to" follow, but why does your daughter not know that the girls on TV are all fake? In real life, without their makeup and fancy clothes, they look just like anyone else. Just...ugh. No hope left for the human race. This is why I fear procreating; I don't want one of my kids to grow up in this type of society.

So because a 9 year old girl (who's going through puberty) wanted to wear a bra and lipstick she's being rebellious and you think she'll end up a teen mother? What the **** is wrong with a 9 year old wanting to wear a bra? I understand that a push up bra is a little much, but do you really think she knew the difference between that and a normal bra? When I was 9 I wore bras and lipstick. What's the problem with that?

The push-up bra is too much, but I think the lipstick is fine. I wore my mother's lipstick all the time.
