1.) Wife & husband attend birthday party for her mother. 2.) Her mother is technically a 'mother-in-law' to her husband. 3.) Husband personally unwraps - and gives a short, cruel explanation for - the gifts he bought his mother-in-law upon presenting them to her. 4.) Today's youth can't seriously be THIS stupid & not easily comprehend that. (... or CAN they ?!)
Don't they teach reading comprehension anymore? Is everyone really that dense that they can't put together what this means???!!
It is worded poorly. You folks that understand it, that's great. But when so many posts are saying the same thing, it means that more than one or two people didn't understand it. I myself was grateful to #78 for the clarification. All that aside, the guy is very disrespectful and OP has some decisions to make.
Just because their his "in laws" doesn't mean he has to ever see them. I've seen my wife's mom once and her dad never since we got married. You marry your spouse, not their family. Sometimes family peace comes from not having to see each other.
