you did a favor to an old lady. try looking at it positively next time, it just might change the way you work and live :)
been there done that! luckily we have one of those coin counting machines in our store! either way we can refuse to take pennies that aren't already rolled up. if she had thrown a fit call management and make it their problem cause thats what they're there for and then you'll get to clock out on time. PS it is illegal to not get paid overtime unless there is another arrangement like there is for state jobs where they get paid comptime they can use later on to make up for the ot
Sounds like America needs to get a concept of "legal tender". Here, if you pay with any more than 20 of a denomination it is not considered legal tender and you can be asked to find another way to pay. Also we got rid of 1c and 2c pieces here probably 15 years ago because they're just plain shit and worthless.
Wow, that's all I can say. Your life must be blissful if the worst thing happening in your life is having to help some elderly lady (who is probably counting change because of living on a fixed income), count a whopping $14 in change. Sounds miserable. you and anyone who sympathizes are mentally handicapped.
Daaaang that's a lot of pennies. O.O

I know 5 or 10 minutes here and there doesn't sound like much, but it adds up. Up until recently, people at my work didn't get paid to close up, which takes around 15 minutes if all goes well. Over 5 days, that's 1.25 hours - around $25. If you work 50 weeks a year, that's $1250 you're getting screwed out of. People need to learn to stop undervaluing their time. If you're working, you should be paid. It's that simple.
I've been there and it sucks.
