Today, a deaf customer came to my work. In an attempt to connect with him I introduced myself in sign language. He just rolled his eyes and pointed at my name tag. FML

You should have said "Well excuse me, jackass" in sign language.

that's when you sign to him that your were just trying to be polite and introduce yourself!!

Maybe he was telling a joke? On the bright side of things at least you tried to reach out to him. That is always a good thing.

At least you were trying to communicate with him in his language. That guy was just a jerk. I took a couple of sign language classes... Every deaf person I've signed with has been appreciative, even with my limited vocabulary and clumsy signing. Sorry this guy was rude about it, OP.

Despite what hearing people think we don't jump for joy when someone learns sign language. We honestly don't really care.

That's sad. You were making an effort to be kind, good for you.
