Today, a few weeks after teaching my dog to fetch my phone and drop it in my lap, he decided to do it spontaneously. Too bad I was in the bath at the time. There goes a $300 phone. FML

Then...why did you train a dog to pick up a $300 phone in his mouth full of sharp teeth in the first place? Surely that was an accident waiting to happen, bath or not.

Sounds like YDI for teaching your dog that 1) because he could easily break it or drool on it 2) because you probably taught him that because you're too lazy to get your own phone

Yeah, phones are not newspapers to ask them to fetch. That phone was doomed the moment you trained your dog to fetch it.

I actually think this is a really smart trick to teach your dog if you're older, especially if you have a service dog. If you got hurt (like my grandma has fallen and broken a hip alone before) or had a heart attack and couldn't get up to call 911, your dog could bring your phone easily.
