I always thought we supervised our young ones so they didn't do things like that. Call me old-fashioned.
basically what this is saying to me is that the boy's scared. my little sister used to be afraid of the toilet flushing, so I can understand the kid being afraid. maybe he was fully potty trained ON A KID TOILET or something, and had now moved up to OP's BIG BOY TOILET. he's prob scared, and he/shes trying to ease him into it. he/she also says EXTREMELY RELUCTANT, so the kid probably does use it, but again, is scared or something. And personally, I think 3 is a good age to potty train a child, because their old enough to understand, but still young. So really the kid isn't too far behind. honestly, I think the people screaming at you to beat him and stuff are ass holes. but he def needs punishment! take away his game for longer and i def agree that OP's a good parent. people dont know how hard potty training is until they have done it themselves (so glad its over did it 3 times) but i do suggest that you keep a better eye on him.....
Shouldnt this be under "kids" instead of "miscellaneous"?
OK, here's the deal. The kid is trained. And even if he weren't, it wouldn't be the end of the world. At some point, you've got to balance your desire to potty train your kid or get them off bottles with their own level of comfort and security. If your kid is three and still drinking out of bottles every once in a while, is it going to hurt him? Really? Probably not. Should he be potty trained at 4? Probably, but if making him do it will traumatize him, it's really not worth it. And it's a well-known fact that boys are harder to train than girls. Lay off the original poster. And yeah, I would let my kid know that that is ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPTABLE. I'd probably give him a spanking, or take something he likes away from him for a day or two.
And yeah, you can't supervise a kid ALL the time. It just isn't possible unless you don't work or have a nanny or a maid to do your housework and cook.
You TOTALLY deserve it for still potty-training at age 4. If they're walking, they should be training.
I walked at 7mos. That's a bit early for potty training. OP said "fully potty trained" meaning that the child IS trained. It said "big boy potty" which to me implies that they have a little kids training potty, and maybe he's just afraid of the 'big boy potty' and likes his little boy potty.
