op here. it's always cool when your FML gets posted because in a weird way it makes the situation a little bit better lol. just some clarification, i started this job a little over a month ago and when i went to the orientation, they gave us $15 dollar gift cards. it was after a 9 hour shift when this sweet old man asked for some change. i remembered i had this gift card in my wallet for a month now and figured he would benefit from it more than i would. i was tired and it was dark outside, but i should have payed more attention. once i realized this mistake i quickly went back to my work, and luckily he was still there. he was very sweet and figured i handed him the wrong card, i gave him the right card and now everyones happy. i'm just glad it was him because god knows what any other person would have done with it.

Im sure the homeless guy will understand, homeless people are extremely friendly (well, where I'm from anyway) sometimes the poorest are the kindest.
i agree some are extremely friendly. but it can go both ways, just like any other person, they can be extremely friendly or sometimes extremely mean.
Really? They aren't friendly where I live, they're pretty aggressive and persistent. I was asked for change recently and didn't have any, they asked me how I bought the lunch I was eating and I said I bought it on my debit card so they asked if I could go buy them some food. I said no, I didn't have time and had to get back to work, he called me a bitch and tried to spit on me. I've also gotten asked for cigarettes, and I don't smoke but they refuse to believe that are are like "oh c'mon, just one smoke!".. Like, I do not smoke, I have zero cigarettes to give..
It can go both ways. I don't like giving money to homeless people, but occasionally offer to buy food. I gave a few bucks to a homeless pregnant woman outside of a grocery store. We were checking out at the same time and she thanked me profusely for allowing her to eat at that day. Another time outside the same store, I refused to give a man a couple bucks to go across the steet to Wendy's for a burger. Instead I offered to go get it myself. He declined and asked for bus fare instead. Nuh uh. A third occasion I had a guy demand, not ask, for a cigarette, then change, and then scream obscenities and threats on my life while I waited in a drive thru line.

I'm homeless, I need your credit card
I said FYL 'cause I know it sucks to "lose" your credit card. Now, I agree with #12 Homeless people usually have respect for the others. Chances are the next time OP walks by this man, he'll go and give them their credit card back.
i think in fact homeless people can sometimes have better character than those who are wealthy
Quite possibly true but I wouldn't leave it to chance - OP - cancel it!
guess who's no longer homeless
Lol you can always cancel those.
Make sure you cancel it!
You deserved it a little, you should be more cautious with things like your credit card. But that was a nice gesture anyway
It would be a nice thing for him to do maybe a bit but still it's better off deactivating it before it gets used...hope you have another card to use for the time being OP

We all are a little air-headed at times, but that's a bit much.
That's awesome that you were able to get that worked out and that he was honest enough to realize the mistake and not take advantage of it. l Definitely restores some faith in humanity for me. :)
