Today, a kid with severe Down's came into my workplace, as he does every day. He's has an obsession with me, sitting at a table, staring and taking photos of me all day. His parents have no problem with this, because they think it's a miracle that he can focus so much attention on me for so long. FML

it's better than someone who is older staring at you all day.

Get a cardboard stand-up of yourself and go work elsewhere.

you should feel good!! you made someone with a disability be happy. its pretty bad that he has an obsession though.... just think that your doing something good and it wont be that bad!!! :)

and what the hell is it hurting you? this kid is going to have enough problems in life dealing with people like you. and don't get me started on the parents. they have it tough too protecting this kid. now sit still, shut your trap and let that kid take some snaps. damn! probably the one thing he looks forward to everyday.

I don't know whether that's a good thing or not lol hahahah

I'm pretty sure she's not insensitive to the fact that he has down syndrome, people. She's upset about the fact that his parents are allowing and encouraging this behavior, when she is obviously uncomfortable with it, and has asked them to do something. Her complaint is not with the child; it is with his parents. His handicap is no excuse for his parents' failure to correct him. They should be trying to raise him and teach him in such a way that he can function as normally as possible in society, and allowing/encouraging him to blatantly stalk someone is not helping with that at all. Just because it makes him happy doesn't mean it's good for him.

it's hard disciplining a child with a mental disability. My 11 year old brother with autism is allowed to hit me with a whip like cat toy and tell me to "move it you ****" when I'm cleaning his room because my mom doesn't look at him as Hunter the 11 year old who needs to be molded into a good person. she looks at him as poor Hunter who has a mental disability and needs to be spoiled in every way possible because he's special.

I agree with 47. This is not the kids fault but it is the parents fault. This boy is going to have enough problems in life without his parents encouraging what would be very disturbing behavior in a normal person. Just because he is disabled does not mean that the behavior is OK or that the OP has to be OK with it.

well at least you're getting some attention

confront the situation. what makes you uncomfortable? it helps another...does that not mean something?
