Today, a kid with severe Down's came into my workplace, as he does every day. He's has an obsession with me, sitting at a table, staring and taking photos of me all day. His parents have no problem with this, because they think it's a miracle that he can focus so much attention on me for so long. FML

lady gaga: as mean as it sounds, retards really is what there called, it's just our society has made it to where people think it's a horrible thing to call people:/ just like how some people freak out over using "bad words" that are in the bible:) if it helps the new politically correct term is intellectually disadvantaged. which let's be honest, no one will take the time to type:/

developmentally disabled is a term that's been around since the 70's

Maybe op has no experience with anyone having downs, or any other mental handicap. So it is unsettling to him. Or the constant staring and picture taking is simply distracting from his work. Or....the op could have sever anxiety and this behavior is difficult for him to handle.

have you ever tried introducing yourself? talking to them? this isn't really an FML.. you should be flattered.

hahaha aww that kinda cute(: why would you put this on fml, you jerk!!!

All people who are criticizing OP need to grow up. It doesn't even matter if the kid has downs or not, it's still creepy if you're minding your own business working and someone is staring and taking pictures of you all day. Downs or not it's completely inappropriate and violating the rights of OP in a sense as nobody can feel comfortable in that sort of situation. Parents should be teaching their children with downs to be appropriate even if it takes a lot more work. This is why I'm against people with mental deficiencies. Because it's not fair to everyone else that they can do these things and have half the world stand up for them 'cause it's "not their fault." They can be taught.

against people with mental deficiencies , woooow- probably the cruelest thing I've ever heard on this site. just ******* wooow

Saying that the individual with Downs is a sad person who leads a sad life is, in my opinion, insensitive. This guy knows nothing different than the life he has. So, who are you people to tell everyone to feel bad for him? Furthermore, don't say it's cute that he has a crush, that's just patronizing. I agree with the others who have said that this type of behavior is unacceptable. It's the parents' responsibility to teach this child how to act in public. And from the sounds of it, they're not doing a good job.

None of you obviously get it. I worked as a teacher's aid in college for special needs kids. People with down syndrome have a hard time focusing so it's a nice thing that he can focus on you. stop being so selfish and talk to the kid. Jeeze! You cant just treat a special needs kid like anyone else, they don't understand and people saying that you should force them to understand are ridiculous!

OP shouldn't have to talk to the kid if she doesn't want to, that's not her job, her job is to do whatever she does at her workplace where this kid comes and disturbs her. If his presence is unsettling enough that she neglects or does her job poorly then she needs to ask her parents to not bring their boy in again, she is within her right to ask so.
