Today, a punk-looking college kid was making fun of my mentally handicapped son. Out of anger, I punched him in the face. I got handcuffed and thrown into a police car. The kid stood there laughing and pointing at me. FML

OMG. That punk deserved more than just a punch in the face. What a lowlife. Don't worry, he'll get his retribution.

I call BULLSHIT. NOONE with a mentally challenged/disabled child/friend/family member/ect would ever use the word "retarded". so....NO.

I wouldn't regret it. I wouldn't even feel bad for getting arrested. I can't stand people who make fun of other people with mental or physical disabilities. Next time just get him when he is alone... Karma will definitely come right back on him.

22, not that I don't agree, but this has happened to me once. My brother, 18 at the time, punched someone for making fun of me. (I have ADD and autism) He got arrested. Although, I now appreciate what my brother did, during the time I was terrified and it was a little bit traumatising to see my brother being taken. Like everyone else is saying, the college boy making fun of his son doesn't justify him punching.

You are autistic? Hm... Can you define to me how that impacts your life? I'm curious and would rather have a reliable account of autism.

56, pardon? It doesn't impact my life. It is my life. What impacts my life is judging arseholes who feel like they must speak slower, or use 'lower' words when addressing me. They think they're helping, but to be honest they're just making me feel like an idiot. I'm still a human, treat me the way you would others. More than 90% of the people who meet me don't realise I'm autistic until I mention it.

I understand exactly what you are saying and I agree but I just can't stand people like that.

Hm... Alright then, I wouldn't have thought you or really anyone else here an autist for that matter. I don't quite understand autism and most other people probably are in the same boat hence generalizations and what not of expected mental deficiencies. If it counts for anything, I've thought of you as being an intelligent person as opposed to having below par cognitive function.

unidentified, there are different levels of autism just like there are different levels of intelligence. My cousin will never be able to go to uni or even carry on conversations the way otbg can. And I agree with otbg that violence did not help anything here. If you go around punching arseholes that taunt mentally challenged people, of course they will press charges. They are arseholes. It's better to teach your son to ignore those people (there will be many) and move on. Slightly less satisfying, I know.

yeah let me introduce you to the 21st century where we have lost the rights to be angry

We haven't. Violence shouldn't be the answer to everything.

it clearly isn't the answer to anything- if it were the answer then op wouldn't have been arrested while the other dude is free. and the college student didn't get "karma"- he got a good laugh. not only that but when the op got arrested, who was caring for his child? you either have to let real karma kick in or deal with the situation verbally- to be honest, I think that wouldve been more effective. plus people like that really do tend to get what's coming to them.

you have the right to be angry, you don't have the right to be violent and out of control. Learn to act civilized or you WILL be excluded from civilized society, either voluntarily by you moving to an uncivilized place or involuntarily through incarceration.

We always have the right to be angry. we do not; however, have the right to physically assault someone just because we are angry.

Little douchebags like that kid are so annoying. They think they're the King Turd of Shit Mountain, but they're just loudmouths who pick on anything smaller than they are to feel like they're something special. Asshole. I hope you track him down and beat his ass.

Eh, you should've expected that since physical injury is always more serious than emotional. But I give you props, and I would've done the same thing, especially if it was my own kid. It would be easier for me to know I stood up for someone and faced time in jail, rather than watching them become emotionally scarred and feeling guilty for the rest of my life.

physical harm can heal. emotional problems have a longer healing process.

28: I agree with you, but seeing his dad being hauled away in a police car would probably be somewhat emotionally scarring as well.

My only problem with this fml is the douche was still able to stand up and laugh at you. Too bad you couldn't have punched the brat harder.

I'm not saying what that 'kid' did was right, but you shouldn't have let it get to your head. Taking it out on a teenager isn't going to do you any justice. How do you think your son feels when he sees you handcuffed and thrown into a police car?

you're right, he let it get to his head and wasn't thinking straight; he should have kneed him in the balls so he would bend over and then kicked him in the face chuck Norris style. if you are in college then you are at least eighteen, he is not a kid he is an adult, therefore he needs a much larger can of whoopass
