Today, after 3 long hours of mowing the lawn with a rusty lawn mower, my dad finally decided to tell me that he didn't get any money out to pay me with. The reason? He didn't think girls could mow a lawn and was expecting me to give up. FML
I agree, your life sucks 53 325
You deserved it 3 774

This isn't your average chore, I do those for free. No allowance, just a hourly rate for the hardcore jobs.

how disgustingly sexist of him

Ow wow, that's something. Charge him extra and add interest until he coughs it up.

How is your life ******? Just go into his wallet later.. Idiot.

for #30, The reason her life is f'ed is because she has a sexist for a dad and unfortunately she might subconsciously pick up some of his idiocy about what women are and are not capable of doing. So FHL for not getting paid immediately but really FHL for having a sexist dad.

They live in the SAME house! (Or as I'm assuming since the OP is doing work for her father and expecting pay) She will get the money sooner or later. I don't know why she needs to get the money right there and then. Jeez.

The money is really unimportant to the **** up level of his life. More important, I think, is that she worked hard at something that her father assumed she wouldn't finish, and wasn't able to do in the first place, and her reward is basically being told that she gets no reward because he doesn't believe in her.

You're dad sounds like a douche canoe. Tell him he has to pay interest now

Your parents don't have to pay you shit. Mow the god damn lawn and stfu.

if he had agreed to pay you in the first place, he should pay you double now! And have a little more faith on you next time.

How is it sexist? Female are INFERIOR to male in terms of stength. Look at all the sports that seperate women from men division so that it's fair competition for them. And this is the first time you ever mow the lawn in your life, can't blame your dad to have his doubts. Finally, you should be lucky you're getting paid to do chores. If I get paid everytime I mow the lawn, I could earn quite a bit now.

In this day and age, females are no longer inferior in strength. Well... they're starting to not be. There's multiple examples of it... my mother works in a factory and lifts heavy steel and operates heavy machinery. Maybe it's something in the things we consume? [shrugs] And of course, there's difference of opinion on what exactly "strength" is. I mean, you probably are pretty strong to give birth to a child, and of course you probably are pretty strong to break someone's legs when you low-tackle them. And mowing a lawn isn't that hard. Yeah, his doubts are understandable for her first time, but it's not exactly a real test of strength. If you think it is... you're pretty sad.

Wow, are you really that retarded? It doesn't take Superman to mow a lawn, and girls aren't forever limited to arms made of noodles just because they have vaginas. My mom is single and I'm her one and only daughter, and the two of us have been mowing the lawn ourselves (with a walk-behind mower) and doing all the other "MANLY" jobs for 19 years now. It's really not that hard, and never was. I don't know why people make such a big deal out of that crap.

Females arent inferior in strength or else I'm just a freak being stronger than half the guys I've worked with (in construction). But even if they were, how much srength is necessary to mow the lawn? Not very much at all with a push mower, and a ride mowers even easier for strength. (Although the ride moewr I've used only turns left so you have to use a little mental strength to make sure you dont get yourself trapped in a corner. lol.)

She's mowing the ******* lawn. It's not like she's lifting 400 IB weights. You kinda underestimating the strength of females.

why do so many people not get the fact that this isn't about not getting paid? it's clearly an fml, because of the REASON she wasn't paid... i.e. her dad's a sexist asshole

Shit! Here in the US, women get paid about $0.71 for every $1.00 that a man earns for the same job. In England, a girl gets paid £0 for every £1 a man gets paid. That's ****** up!

ydi for expecting your DAD to pay you, I've never gotten paid for anything i've done around my house and i've mowed plenty of times, not to mention clean our goats/chickens pen, load fire wood, ect, ect, ect and my dad calls me lazy because his sister and mom did way more than that. so stop being a little whiney bitch and be a REAL GIRL, YOU ARE NOT a helpless porcelin doll or anything. actually probably far from it, so grow up and stop whining because your daddy didn't pay you! oh and your dads probably not sexist, he just knows what he can expect from you.

Expect from me? I do **** loads around the house it isn't about getting paid it's about the sexism and yes, it was just that.

Two years ago I spent my summer keeping a 6-bedroom, three-bathroom house clean, and the yard looking nice. making sure that the vegetables in our garden were taken care of, babysitting my two younger sisters adn my mothesr friends 3 kids (for free) fed all five of them three meals a day, and at nigth kept my drunken mother out of trouble. I got paid absolutly nothing and because of my responsibilities to the kids I was nto able to spend any time with any of my friends. I was 16. Until you've done all that you can't say you've done "**** loads." You can say you do a 'decent amout' of stuff but definately NOT fuckloads of housework. And yes, OP, your dad was an ass for expecting you to give up, adn therefore FYL, however you do not do '**** loads' of house work unless youv'e got something to compare to what I did. I was then kicked out in september for not having a job. I came back in december for two days in which I ahd to clean the house, and then kicked out again on christmas day. I came back on my sisters birthday in march with the promise of not being sent away again. I clean the house, gave my sister her birthday present, and was kicked out the next morning for not taking out the trash after the birthday party. I was finally let home to stay when my mom stopped drinking last july.

Sorry for the rant but it's still a sore spot for me when people say they do a lot, after all I went through to take care of my family, and myself.

no op, your whiney, and whiney people get on my nerves. also most people that SAY they do a "**** load" of work usually rarely don't do shit. and parents know what to expect of their kids, if he did not expect you to do it, its on your own merit. get over it. he's your dad and at the risk of rambeling im going to say it again he knows what to expect out of your ass. oh and boatkicker, thank God for saying most of what you said, i respect people like you that work their ass off and don't really expect much back, just doing what needs to be done. i'm really sorry about how your parents act, its not right. and they probably hurt your siblings by kicking you out, but on the other hand, you could probably better your life if you got out of that environment.

@67&8- Despite what others may post, I think that's what this site is all about. Sore spots. Seemed articulate and pertained to the post, so I say keep your... ah, 'rants' coming:-)

When I reread what I had said I felt like I sounded whiney. I didn't mind doing the work. It was the lack of appreciation that got to me. No one ever said thank you. I should have expected it from teh girls. When I was a kid I never noticed stuff like how much my mom cleaned, BUt my mom didn't thank me either, and I was taking care of her kids, and her friends kids. Her friend I later found out was actually paying me, but giving my money to my mom to give to me. I never saw that money at all. Anyways, my mom has stepped up. My sisteres have started doing chores. and I have moved out. They seem to be capable of taking care of the house on thier own now, and the girls are old enough that they dont need a babysitter, so things are good.
