i agree with op in all except that he "sent" his mom, unless the mom stated she was sent specifically, my guess is that the guy was just content with giving op the silent treatment and pretend op didn't exist, the guys mom was probably disappointed in her son and went to break it to the girl because her son wouldn't man up, but I can't see the guy ASKING his mom to go do it, its much more likely that the guy was just going to ignore the situation and act like it didn't exist for the rest of his life

While it's most likely that the guy was just being a jerk, I can't help but wonder if the OP was abusive in some way and the guy was scared of her and couldn't confront her himself. Too ambiguous to decide.

Sounds similar to what my dumbass cousin did. He had a wonderful girlfriend and decided to "prank" her for a month. Ignoring her calls, texts, and voicemails, telling her he didn't want to see her when she came to visit, just generally being a total asshole. After a month of that, she found someone else, assuming what we all did, that they broke up. As soon as my cousin found out, he told her that he was just pranking her and that she was cheating due to them not being broke up in his eyes. She's still with the other guy, and he's now living off somewhere, single as ever. Moral of the story? Don't be an asshole to your significant other if you want him or her in your life.
