Of course they're not going to use a patch of skin taken from a rotting corpse; though I didn't read more than 5 comments, I'm suprised you had to put that little tidbit in your comment, 170. It's probably infected 'cause the OP didn't properly take care of the area in which the skin was grafted. I mean, I know the mouth is one of the most germ-ridden places in the body, so it's harder than not to keep it from getting infected. But still, the infection (most likely) has nothing to do with the skin being from a person who was deceased.
Exactly. The OP probably didn't follow all post-op instructions. But the way I read the FML, it sounded like the OP was saying "ewww a dead person's skin, gross, it's yucky and grodey because they're dead". So I just had to mention that the skin *is* sterile when they put it on the transplant site.
You make me sick, OP. I see people who die at the hospital because we don't have enough organ donors. Because SOMEONE was selfless enough to help the living after their death, you don't have a hole in your mouth or a nasty scar on your tigh. And what do you do? You come whining on a website?? Seriously, that's just wrong. As for the infection, #174 is right. Geez, that pisses me off.
So you'd rather have some poor sap give up their tissue while they were still alive, or have tissue taken from somewhere else on your body? Honestly, the real FML is that you had to have the surgery in the first place. Sounds pretty bad. :C
Where do you expect them to get it? At least it wasn't a skin graft where a lot of extra skin is needed. That stuff is grown from babies' foreskins. There's really no pleasant way to think of this.
zombie... in your mouth.
Welcome to the Zombie apocalypse. . . Your patient 0. But seriously you were worried about this? The flesh from the cadaver I mean, come on get over it and grow up. Where do you think heart transplants come from? Living people? -eyeroll- That it's infected sucks sure, but that was preventable too you know.
nastyyyy
So, if you'd just gotten a heart/lung/etc etc transplant from a dead person, would you still be upset? or would you prefer someone was alive but voluntarily gave you their heart/lung/etc (which would kill them anyway) just so you could say it wasn't a dead person's? ore maybe they should let you die instead of giving you a dead person's flesh. hmm.
