Today, after three days of hospital camping with my very sick husband, he was finally out of danger when I left last night to get my first good night's sleep in almost 96 hours. He woke me at 5 a.m. with a phone call asking me to bring him comic books because he's bored. FML

Today, my husband came home from the hospital after having painful surgery, so I decided to make him a nice big breakfast. As I was taking it up to him, I heard a message on the phone. It was from one of his nurses. She was accepting his offer of a date. FML

Today, I finally finished a gruelling shift at the hospital. I hadn't slept in over 30 hours, so I was happy to get out. I was quickly rushed back in after I collapsed in the parking lot and cracked my head open. FML

Today, I am exhausted and can barely move after being up all night taking care of my drunk and vomiting husband. He, on the other hand, feels much better and is bounding with energy. FML

Today, I've been horribly sick with a stomach virus. Six hours ago, I asked my husband to go to the store and get me a few things that would help ease my misery. He's still in bed and I'm cleaning the house in between bouts of vomiting. FML

Today, due to an emergency, I have worked for 21 hours non stop. When I got home at 6 a.m. I fell into bed and stuck to the sheets. Only then, just as he was going to work, did my husband yell up the stairs that the sheets needed washing because he spilled his cough medicine all over the bed when he woke up. FML

Today, my husband is miserable. He couldn't sleep. He tried to make me feel bad for sleeping through the night. I was medicated from a brain scan. His is work is horrible, and no one understands, etc. He's mad that I took a walk. Now, as I am frustrated and crying, he is laughing on the phone with his coworkers. FML

Um correct me if Im wrong but isn't 3 days 72 hours? OP you have done well looking after him when he is in hospital and you need your sleep. Simple fact is if you are too tired then you are in danger of crashing. I hope you told him you would be there in a couple of hours so you could get more sleep. I don't think he was being selfish though, his body clock is probably all over the place and he either didn't realise the time or just didn't think. Also to the commenter somewhere above it is very possibleto die from lack of sleep, things just start to shut down. You are more likely to die from a fatigue induced accident than from the actual fatigue tho.

the dude almost ******* died. Seriously. I know one thing for sure, if my girlfriend was in danger of dying I would never leave her side even if I had to take some naps in a freaking chair on the hospital (yes, everybody needs to sleep, but you dont NEED to sleep at home in your bed). And I would be sure to bring her whatever she wants if it makes her happy, just because that's what you do to people you love. I know she'd do the same for me. That's beacause I love her so ******* much that I wouldn't even be able to leave her alone in an hospital on a time like that. OP may have needed some rest but hey, the guy was dying. If I almost died I probably would be so freaked out I would even want to sleep. So yeah I get why the guy needs some company or some stuff to help distract him. Sitting his ass on a bed just wondering about his health and doing nothing at all cant be nice. Just sayin.

apparently this wife didn't remember that part about "for better or worse" or "in sickness and in health." if you can't suck it up and go the extra mile for him then you shouldn't have married.
