Today, as I was bagging groceries, I looked down to see a 6-year-old urinating on my shoes and the floor next to me. I told his mother that he should take her kid to the restroom, only to be told to "mind my own goddamn business." I was later fired for arguing with the customer. FML

Take them to court. I'm sure a jury can see the logic and misjustice in firing someone for not wanting piss on their shoes.

I am from Europe and I keep reading about crazy FML stories of people getting fired because of stupid customers. Is this quite common in America? Is the customer really always right regardless of what happens??? I am quite shocked. Many time have I told customers to f-off, with the support of my managers, simply because we get paid doesn't mean we're prostitutes who can get peed on - with a smile -

File a wrongful termination suit. They can't fire you for this situation. A kid pisses on your shoes and then you get fired? You'll win

I would kicked this ****** on the face.

Just to clarify a few things... In the USA you do not 'sue' for assault. Assault is a criminal charge. And yes, in all 50 states, urinating on someone (who doesn't want to be urinated on) is considered to be assault. Some states would hold the mother legally responsible, some the minor, and some the state's attorney gets to pick. Since the 'assailant' (legal term) is a minor, he'd be handled by the juvenile system and would likely be put into protective custody, which might not be a bad idea anyway. There really are not grounds for a civil lawsuit against the mother (can't sue the minor directly) unless she actively encouraged the minor to commit the crime and/or it causes some kind of serious injury or damage. I for one, do not buy the idea that a child, regardless of age or medical history, can not avoid urinating on a stranger. Urinating uncontrolled in public, sure. But to get it on someone else he'd have to have been either basically humping the dude's leg already or unzipped, aimed, and let fly very intentionally. As for the store! You've got a golden ticket of prime civil lawsuit material there. Being fired for being the victim of a crime in the workplace is definitely grounds for all sorts of fun stuff, like damages for time without work, damages for mental distress at having to worry about how to make ends meet unemployeed wrongfully, damages to cover your legal fees to sue the company, and last but certainly not least, punitive damages. Punitive damages are something most states have that are a way to tack on a large dollar figure to a lawsuit that a company would otherwise just laugh at and write a check for. It's basically there to level the playing field between the corporations and the average joe employees/customers/citizens so that the corporation will actually feel it. And trololololol for copy and repost. Fail moderators are fail.

Toss your shoes into your bosses face. : )

That's why you shut up and go to the restroom asap to wipe it off

Send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper with all the straight, dry facts. You can't be sued for libel if is the truth. Public relations are very important to businesses; that should make whomever fired you uncomfortable. You're probably the first person who ever tried to sort out that kid's behaviour.

What awful parenting… Poor child had to resort to more primitive forms of relief

The moment the woman said to mind my own goddamn business would have been the instant I said "I quit!" and I would have done one of the following: 1.slapped her in the face 2. picked up the child and had him pee on her 3. removed my peed on shoes and rubbed them in her face or found some way to get piss on her. Then I would have left the store, consequences be damned. I'm sure the judge at the hearing would see things my way >:D
