Today, at school, I got stuck in the elevator and was about to panic before I remembered I had my phone. I called my mother and she called the school to tell them that I was stuck. They got me out in a few minutes and then confiscated my phone and gave me two detentions for using it in school. FML

Have the schools head on a platter for unreasonable treatment. This was an emergency situation in which you had no other choice. You were not disrupting a class or using it for conversation. Maybe you could have pushed the emergency call button in the elevator, but that's no excuse for the school's actions.

Doesn't elevators come with emergency ring and intercom?

you have a right to refuse to turn over your phone, or it counts as theft

Something like that happened to me. I was having a panic attack in the bathroom and couldn't walk so I called my mom. The teachers tried lecturing me for using my phone. All while I was still panicking.

Some schools have elevators if there are mutliple floors. At the middle school AND high school I went to, there were elevators for students on crutches or in wheelchairs. A few times a year someone would bust an ankle or a knee and be on crutches, and there was a paraplegic girl (sorry if I spelled that wrong) in the year above. So yeah, that's why some schools have elevators. You can sometimes ride in the elevator even if you don't have one of these handicaps, but this is only if you're helping someone by carrying their books for them or their bag.
