I wasn't actually "tearing" them down, I was gently pulling them off the wall to put them inside the classes instead. It was awkward nonetheless, hope this clears things up.

Who are you to have the right to tear down anything just because they have been up for awhile? All universities have a rule as to how long posters and advertisements can be up, so you have no right to tear something down without permission. There is a date on them that states when they have to be taken down, so maybe you should control your tingling fingers and not go around campus ruining other peoples stuff?
