Today, at work, an old lady came through my line to buy some groceries. She told me she lost her purse and was a little short. It was busy, so I pulled out my little purse and gave her the money she needed. A few minutes later she returned with my boss, insisting that my purse was hers. FML

That's how old people survive! What they have lost in physical prowess (with men, it's strength; with women, beauty), they have to make up for in craftiness and cunning. The elderly who don't have these skills die off, but the ones that can con young people out of their money are indeed the fittest. Look at Social Security: We can only hope to live long enough to shake down the younger generation as much as we're being shaken now!

wtf? i hope you had you license or something with your name in your little purse. I would have battled the bitch, said uhm NO asked if anyone else saw what happened, pull out camera footage..the works..just to show that old lady not to do shit like that. OR after she left the store "take a break" and go in camera blind spot and beat the shit out of her. just a thought.

I love how so many people have suggested you prove it's yours by having some sort of ID in there... that wouldn't work. Think about it, if OP had really taken the lady's purse she could have put anything into it. OP, I recommend having the security tapes reviewed. That would clearly show you giving the lady money out of YOUR purse.

Clearly it's not so stupid for checkout staff to not have money on them, if things like this can happen. If someone comes through the line asking for a few dollars from the employee because the customer didn't bring quite enough... well, they can put something back and return for it when they have the money. Clerks shouldn't be put in that position.

and your drivers license was in your purse. so then your boss knew the old lady was whacked. yawn

Don't most major markets have cameras in them? Specifically aimed at the cashiers (in case of theft?). So, if so, wouldn't it be on camera that a) she had her own purse, b) you pulled out YOUR own purse and c) prove that you did not handle her purse? Barring the ID in the purse?

...time to break out the falcon punch. |the kid|
