As others have said, the lice that live on dogs are actually specialized lice that can't hold onto human hair nor live off human blood. So sorry to say your lice problem came from somewhere else, you may need to actually find the source of your infestation because it's definitely not the dog
As others have said, the lice that live on dogs are actually specialized lice that can't hold onto human hair nor live off human blood. And the lice that live on cats cannot live on dogs or humans either Lice are an extremely specialized pest and are species specific So sorry to say your lice problem came from somewhere else, you may need to actually find the source of your infestation because it's definitely not the dog
Lice are species specific. You can't be "infested" by lice from your dog...
To everybody saying it's not possible to get lice from your dog, you're only partly right. While they are species specific and can't survive more than 24 hours off their host species, if the dog's infestation is really bad the lice will look elsewhere for food. They can easily scurry around on a human during those 24 hours before they die of starvation. The cycle of new lice trying to find food on a human will continue as long as the dog has them. The same goes for a mite infestation. Fleas, however, are much more common and not at all species specific. They don't especially care about presence of fur/hair either, usually biting anywhere on the body like ankles and arms, not localized to the scalp.
if its actually lice, i say use lice shampoo and i had some when i was younger... i started straightening my hair and BAM gone. i guess i burned them all lmao. straighten your hair lol.
I sincerely hate to break it to you, but human lice doesn't host on dogs (trust me I know) but I'm pretty sure what you have are fleas...
Or maybe it's you not understand that 1 lice and fleas are different things and 2 if it is lice being dirty makes it less likely to be there, lice prefer clean heads because oily hair makes their eggs not stick as well. Before you get upset with your husband I'd suggest some self education
Dog and human lice are different. Dog lice need DOG blood and human lice need HUMAN blood. The blood is different so the different spieces of lice CANNOT SURVIVE on different hosts. It'll have been a unfortunate coincidences.
You know lice is species specific, and doesn't survive off the host, right? Long story short - if you have lice, you didn't get it from the dog

If they're from the dog, they're not lice, but fleas. Human head lice don't live on pets. If they're fleas, you'll need to treat your dog and clean the whole house very thorougly. It's a lot of work, but the sooner you start on it, the better, you don't want to let the infestation grow even bigger. If it's lice, the solution is actually a lot easier, they're pretty simple to get rid of, you'll just need a really fine comb and a special shampoo to kill them. It's gross, but not such a big deal. You really need to be sure first what exactly you're dealing with though.
sorry to tell you but the lice that can live on dogs and cats can't live on humans and vice versa. fleas however are a different story...
