Today, for the second day in a row, I was constantly abused, yelled at, insulted, and berated by my wife for "endangering our child's life." I took her to the doctor for a vaccination and flu shot yesterday. FML

Bitches be crazy. Seriously. It drives me nuts when parents consider all vaccines to be harmful. There's a reason they need vaccinations to go to school.

If i was married and my wife didn't want her to have vaccinations or flu shot I'd probably ignore her as well. I'd rather my child be safe.

Were you aware of her views on vaccines prior to marrying her or having children because that seems like the kind of discussion that should have taken place before...

@178 really. An immunization does just that, the flu shot gives your immune system the antibodies with which to fight sicknesses. Getting the flu and getting a flu vaccine will do the same thing to the immune system except you don't have to have the flu. I used to have an egg allergy that prevented me from getting the shot and, the flu is pretty awful, good thing I was generally healthy or it could have been life threatening

do you even know whats in a flu shot??

Yes essentially in it's most basic it is the dead Virus', which primes your immune system. Some presevatives in there to stop fungi forming, adjuvent and stabalizers.

237: just say no if you really don't have a clue

How did you end up marrying such a moron? People who are against vaccines for any reason are uneducated simpletons who shouldn't even be allowed to have children.

Here's my input: I agree with the MMR vaccine, polio vaccine, etc. I do believe that the benefits outweigh the risks in those cases, and from what I can tell, the risk of bad side effects is relatively low. However, I refuse to get flu vaccines. I honestly don't see the point in getting them. The vaccine is developed as a prediction as to what strains are going to be most prominent. They do not protect against all strains, and if the developers are wrong about the strains, the vaccine is pointless. I have taken microbiology, virology, and epidemiology courses before, so that is where my info is coming from. I also refuse to get the Gardasil vaccine. I have personally witnessed a couple of cases with severe side effects, and you can find several stories and videos of girls sharing their stories after receiving the vaccine. Of course, these side effects do not occur in all or even most cases. However, the CDC is actually denying that any of these cases occur or are related to the vaccine, which scares me and sometimes makes me question their integrity. Bottom line: do research before agreeing to anything. And most definitely talk things over with your spouse rather than going behind their back.

Good for you for protecting your daughter's life. You're a good dad! I think it is best you went ahead and went through with the vaccine. Talking about it with your wife wouldn't have gotten anywhere. You don't need to bend to her wishes if she refuses to compromise on a life-death issue. You did what you could to save your child. I know this sounds dramatic, but illness is not something to eff with, especially if you're a child.

Wow. I cant believe this, you are giving your child austism.
