Today, I arrived twenty minutes early for my opening shift at work, so I decided to turn on the radio and wait in my nice warm car. I woke up two hours later with twelve missed calls from my boss and a dead car battery. FML

Yeah, because bosses randomly think, "Huh, so and so isn't in yet, I'll go check the parking lot!" ......

well damn u shouldnt have done tht. but hey no one wants to be out in the cold so i understand

agree with #9. Two hours to drain a battery with only the radio on is a real improbability. YDI for posting a bogus FML.

No, OP wasn't driving. Driving recharges batteries.

I work in a auto parts store, look in the battery There is a thing called reserve capacity that's how long the battery will last if u have the key on and car off and most batteries the capacity rating is only 1.5 hours so I believe the ops post is legit

Except if they just had the accessories on, the air coming out of the vents would not have been warm after the first few minutes, so it makes sense that OP had the engine running to keep the heater going. That would mean the battery wouldn't die. Not sure if I believe this FML.

I'm an Electrical Engineer. Whatever the Reserve Capacity is on the battery, you need to follow the simple calculation of amps drawn versus amps in Reserve and/or amps in storage. A car radio only draws 1.5-2 amphrs at most, even if the fuse is rated at 5A peak draw. You can leave a radio on in the car for 12-14 hours and not drive the battery down where it won't start. At your calculation, 1.5 hours is only about 3 amps storage capacity. You can't even start a car with that type of capacity. Most car battery's are rated at 550-650 amps. The starter solenoid draws the most, at approx 10-15 amps (which is then stepped up to increase the voltage) and for a very short time. Basic electrical theory.

YDI op. it is unfortunate tho. just deny everything and transfer blame: "you fell asleep and were late" "whaaaat? hell no. you did." no prob :)

agree with #40 just say you swapped shifts with someone else but it wasnt official so they obviously felt they could get out of it...asshole that they are...and bobs your uncle :)

Actually you'd be better off just admitting the truth than some bull shit excuse story. The boss could easily find out your lying, and that isn't exactly brownie points.

whats also not funny is how bad and whiney avenged sevenfold is..

at what point did your boss not think to look in the parking lot?
