I'm really short, and I think this is an adorable way to ask a girl to prom! I wouldn't be offended at all, I'd think it was cute
Wow she sounds amazing to me. Love the way she rejected you. Maybe apologize and ask her out? She might turn out to be a fun girl who knows.
FYI OP, when you try to tell someone they can't do something, many will do that thing just to prove they can. And trying to tell her she can't say no? You're going down a dark road there, OP. Also, as many other commenters have said, you have to be really close friends with someone before a joke like this would be considered funny to them. I'm guessing, since you clearly didn't know how she would react to the joke (otherwise, why post it here?), you were not close enough. YDI
YDI for not giving her the choice to say no, you were forcing her into saying yes with something she can't control.
I personally don't see the whole 'he was forcing her to say yes because she was small, thus weak' argument. It was a poor joke alright, but it's a bit far-fetched to conclude that he was considering her beneath him in terms of choice. I'm 5ft and I hear 'small' jokes all the time. They're not always funny but rarely maliciously mean either.
You can't expect her to say yes after making fun of her height
First, that's an original and funny way to ask someone. Second, that was quick thinking and brilliant on her part. Third, im sorry it didnt work out OP.
Just raise the standards.
apparently she did, she said no
It seems like a cute idea, but it doesn't sound like you knew her well enough to do something this big. So many things could have soured that for her. Maybe she really hates short jokes, and wrote you off immediately for that. She may have wanted an emotional display instead of a corny display, something more serious. Or maybe just telling her she couldn't say no made her say no. Being told you can't do something automatically makes some people contrary.

I'm oddly proud of her response
Looks like your plan fell a little short of the mark
