The only way I'd agree with the manager would be if OP works at a makeup store/kiosk, but a simple yes would have sufficed. The fact that OP felt the need to ask leads me to believe that she does work at a makeup store, but I'm never gonna know for sure. FYL for having a bitch as a manager though.
people who are saying "the shouldn't be a requirement" are retarded. if OP is working in the restaurant industry then image is everything. guests want to go into a nice building and be served by a good looking server, I see some girls walk out with $200 plus in tips. in fact, most establishments would want their staff looking their best if they're dealing with customers. the "so for you, yes" comment was a little harsh, but if the company has a certain physical standard that has to be upheld it's entirely the manager's right to make OP wear make up. when I started working in the front part of a restaurant I had to cut my hair, and honestly I look way better now and feel way more confident. OP should use this as an excuse to better herself.
Snap, OP, oh snap.
I had a male boss tell me "your job is to look good," one day when I had been running late and wore no make up / threw my hair up.
At least you're pretty with make-up. Don't focus on the bad, otherwise you'll never be happy. I work hard to focus on the good in my life.
What a bitch, I'd never want to work for someone like that. I'm sure you look fine with or without make-up anyways. She seems like a terrible boss.
Sue her you actually can, she emotionally abused you in the work place and was discriminating against your appearance. That should be good for a promotion for you a firing for her a $50,000 settlement and job security for as long as you want.
Bwahahahaha, I hope to god you are joking. If you are not, I know what's wrong with the world today. A promotion, 50.000 bucks settlement and job security for life for one bitchy comment? You are living in a dreamworld buddy. If you are that litigious, you don't deserve that in the first place. Talk to her supervisor and get her a reprimand, but anything else is overkill and unnecessary. Courts will say the same.
The job was bussing at a semi fancy restauranto

You should've asked her if being naturally bitchy was a requirement. Cause if it was, she nailed it.
Ouch. Should've said "oh so you have to wear it too then, yes?"
