Today, I asked my mom about signing up for an online dating site. She took one look at me and said, "Why get rejected online when you can just go outside for the same?" FML

:( That's harsh, especially since it's your mom.

I say go for it. Screw your mom's negativity. :)

depends on how old you are young enough to need her approval.. spend your time doing homework instead of Chadian boys.

Maybe she was just joking OP, heard this sort of wisecrack about online Dating before A friend of mine met her husband on an online dating website and have been together for many years, hes an absolute gem and treats her like a princess, its gorgeous to see. He helps out with the kids and is kinda like a soccer mum. There are rejections anywhere online or in person, dont take it to heart OP

Does anybody know how to look at an OP's profile?

Every time you seek love, you never find it. As soon as you decide to stop looking, it crashes right into you. Just be yourself, it will happen when you least expect it.

That's just nonsense. You're never getting a girl/boyfriend by setting it home all day waiting for miracles to happen. You have to go out there and meet new people. If that doesn't work (or if you're not the outgoing type), a dating site might just be the answer. That's how I met my girlfriend. It never would have happened if I hadn't taken some proactive steps on my part.

could have insulted you more and said " why get rejected online when you can get rejected at Walmart? " just saying..

1. My mom was a bit like that. Bitter. Take a good look at Mom's love life, I'm guessing that's where her statement is coming from. 2. That's a HORRIBLE thing to say to your child about dating. NO NO NO NO NO! 3. I'm happily married to a wonderful guy I met on an online dating site. I'm not a model, or young, and I found someone. YOU CAN TOO. Just be yourself, date around casually, date several people (first couple of dates, in a public place like Starbucks) and keep at it. 4. Learn to Not Ask Your Mom, and when you slip up and ask her, I think you should learn to ignore her.

thats hard, new experiences can be great .. or not ... good luck anyways
