Being suicidal is like a phobia. For a phobia, even though you know spiders or snakes or whatever probably won't hurt you you still fear them. For suicide, even though you know it's not a good idea, you still feel like you need to do it. Yes, suicide is much more serious, but like a phobia, even though you know it's irrational it's hard to stop it. Also, suicidal people don't really want 100% to die,they're just trying to call for help BTW, this is like 9th grade health info. not some kind of professional psychologist info. "Today, it was my first day working at the suicide prevention hotline place. I had to take a leak, so I left, and when I came back 3 minutes later, there was a missed call and a new voicemail. On the message I could hear some kid saying 'Not even the suicide hotline will help me' then the gun went off.... the bad news is that I was fired and now I can't pay my rent. FML."

I remember after a good friend of mine died I was feeling really crappy about it, I tried calling one of those teen help things. they answered and gave me another number to call. When i called that number, it was an automated answering thing that gave me yet another number. when I called THAT number, they referred me to the first number I called, who then just never answered. I looked up another one on the net, and all that was listed in my state were the numbers I had already called. I looked up another not in my area, and they told me I had to call one in my area, it was completely ridiculous and I call scam on those stupid numbers, even if they advertise on TV. I was in a shitty state of mind, it was mid day (so my friends were either in class or work), I just wanted to give it a shot.
