Today, I came home after ten hours at work to find my unemployed wife and 4 kids sprawled out watching TV waiting for me to get home and cook for them. I had to wash all the dishes first because they didn't feel like getting up or helping. FML

Today, I spent hours cooking an amazing dinner for my family, who had just gotten home from a trip, so we could spend some time together because I'd started to miss everyone. When they got home, they saw it all laid out and just took plates to their room, without even telling me they were home. FML

Today, I have the flu. I had to wash the dishes, cook dinner, take out the trash, and take care of the laundry, all while my wife sat around watching TV, because she was "too tired". I work 8 hours a day. She's a college student. She doesn't see what's so unfair about this. FML

Today, due to an emergency, I ended up working for 18 hours instead of 13. I'd texted my unemployed wife to let her know this was unavoidable, but when I got home she blamed me like she thought I planned this in advance, yelled at me, and my dinner was Heinz tomato soup I had to heat up myself. FML

Today, I worked a full day and then went to a three-hour class. I got home at 9 PM, and before the door closed I heard, "There's a sink full of dishes for you." There are three able-bodied men in the house, all of whom got here hours ago and created that sink full of dishes. FML

My wife decided to be a wet blanket and insisted we needed to deep clean the already clean kitchen. Three arguments later, everyone is sulking, and I'm working in the kitchen alone. FML

Today, I spent my day alone while my parents and siblings were at school and work. Trying to be helpful, I cleaned out the fridge, did 5 loads of laundry, worked outside, fed the pets and made dinner for the entire family. The evening was spent hearing complaints of how wrong I did everything. FML

Well I wouldn't do it; tell your wife that she can get off her lazy ass and do something other than sit there and watch TV. And how old are these kids? Surely they're old enough to at least do the dishes. You're the one who works and brings home the money; the least they can do is keep up with the house, and if they can't, well then I guess it won't get done. I'd rent an apartment until they got their shit together.

Taurus_ChicKa, that sounds like a wonderful idea. Not only does he have to support the wife and 4 kids, but NOW... he has to pay for an apartment! Brilliant! And when his wife gets a job, someone will have to pay for the insane daycare costs of four children.... I bet that's cheap!

Wait, 24 hours a day for 18+ years? What sort of invalids are you raising? I'm pretty sure I could function reasonably well without *constant* supervision once I learned how to not poop in my pants. And at some point, most kids become old enough to be able to pull their own weight around the house and do chores. Surely the wife could have gotten one of the older kids to at least help with the kitchen. Regardless, OP has every right to complain if he feels like no one appreciates what he does for the family.

Simple solution: grab you some dinner on your way in from work. when the lazy bunch wants something to eat, tell them to get a job so they can afford to eat out like you did. Anyone that is too young to work outside the home can earn their money by doing the chores set for them.
