Today, I came home to find that my mother had sold all my valuable collector coins for cheap at a local shady pawn shop to buy herself a TV. The coins in question were worth enough to start a business. FML

Well...that sucks... :/ Try putting her in a home. Or a pie. A meat pie. Why, yes, I /AM/ clinically insane. Why?

Must not be that good of a tv.

Should have started a business. Lol.

take the TV back and get the coins. Say they weren't hers to sell they were yours.

Yes, because the owners of shady pawn shops are always forgiving, understanding and sympathetic.

Call cops. Get coins back. Purchase a safe. Buy TV and smash it in front of your mom. Punch her in the face. Win.

My mom sold all my cds, 200 NES games, NES, SNES and games, Playstation 1 and games, and my SEGA genesis while I was at work at a yard sale for $100. She did so because she "didn't think I needed all my old toys." Since there was no way to get them back I figured smashing all her tacky nick-nacks was worth it. And that was the last day I lived at my parents house. I feel for you OP FYL indeed.

She sell all that for a measly(sp?) $100??? I wild have died right there, sorry mate.

#68, maybe you should have moved out sooner. I'm sure $100 isn't as much as you cost your mom by living with her too long. They were just toys.. And smashing all of her things? Sucks she sold your stuff but that's really childish. Time to put on your big boy pants and start acting like an adult!

98 Those "toys" were probably worth well over $500, if not $700 I don't have exact figures but still, much more than $100.

You're kind of missing the point of my comment, but okay...

Forgot to mention all the video games and systems still had the original packaging and manuals. Just the copies of FF1 and FF2 sell for more than $100 on ebay.

taradeborde87 I love how you assume that just because someone continues to live with their parents it means they are costing them money. Many people continue to live with their parents but also do things like pay rent, buy groceries, chip in on the bills. It's unwise of you to assume that anyone was costing their parents money simply by living with them. I'll admit smashing their mothers stuff may not be the best answer but considering; the actual value of all the stuff that was sold, emotional attachments, the difficulty of replacing it all, and the fact that no one else should be making decisions on whether someone needs their old toys, I'd say it was a pretty tame response.

Well she had no right to sell our coins. I would take the tv back and try and get your coins back too.

Wow if I had nickel for every time I've heard this kind of story...

I'm sorry OP, those were not hers to sell. It baffles me how people don't talk to each other before doing this kind of thing.
