This happened to my husband when he used to live with his brother. The lease was in his brother's name, so my husband handed over his half of the money to his brother, who blew all the money on pot for several months. My husband was confronted by the landlord and his brother came clean. My husband used a credit card to pay everything that was owed (which included utility bills and stuff too) and his brother never paid him back. Then my husband (who had been working for a temp agency) couldn't find a job for a while, couldn't pay off the credit card, and had his credit score totally dominated for years to come because of it.
Yep...and my husband is going through the same thing as well. He moved back to the States and I was supposed to follow once I'm done with college in August. He moved in with his brother to be able to save up as much money as possible for us...turns out his brother also wasted the money on pot instead of actually paying the bills...there not evicted yet...but it's only a matter of time...and this also screws us over because now we can't afford my visa and my trip anytime soon -_-
you don't get evicted after missing half of one months rent. you would have heard from your landlord before you were evicted and it takes forever to get to that point...these things aren't sudden like that. you lie
Another self-appointed deputy from the FML unit of the spelling and grammar police! Fan-*******-tastic!
your landlord is required to store your belongings for 30 days after eviction so if anything is missing or damaged you can actually sue for the value
Yep, I think it's like the Land Lord Tenet Act of like 1981 or something... that's hugely illegal.

Just like you neglected to make sure he paid his half of the rent?
