Good grief people, it's not like Dad had Mom bent over the kitchen table and OP & friend came in. Fork is probably stainless steel the dishwasher will sanitize. You realize they reuse surgical stainless steel instruments in hospitals. In this case a dishwasher is close enough to an autoclave.
