Today, I came out to my dad. He called me weak minded and said that he has never been more disappointed in me. I didn't come out as gay. I came out as a vegetarian. FML

I didn't know people had such strong opinions about being vegetarian, lol. Seems pretty ridiculous to me.

My parents basically did that too. And are half the people commenting missing the "Speak your mind, but please try and be respectful"? Jesus christ! 1. Veganism and vegetarianism is healthier [healthier than eating meat, but not exactly healthy, as it does have its down-sides] if done correctly. It's not theory any longer, it has been proven as fact. Ask any nutrition scientist. 2. Stop being so mean to the OP. He should be looked up to for making a very good decision that most people don't think they would be capable of, not torn down simply for being different. Thank you to everybody not doing the above. OP: I wish there were more people in the world like you. Ignore your dad. He sounds like a closed-minded jerk.

YDI. Vegetarianism is unnatural.

i'm hindu, and vegetarianism has been part of our "religion"/way of life for the past...oh, 3000 years. all you haters that say that vegetarianism is bulls**** and vegetarians are p****ies, f*** off. Since birth, I've been a vegetarian - NOT A VEGAN...note the difference. I need my cheese and eggs and milk. My entire family, with the exception of a morally deficient cousin, has been vegetarians for hundreds of generations dating back to our ancestry. Anything in life has consequences - too much meat may result in one thing, and at the same time, too many vegetables can result in another thing. Moderation is the key word. and key note-if vegetarians are gay, why the hell is India the second most populous country in the world?

I agree with #15. But I must add, coming out vegetarian and coming out gay are basically the same thing.
