Today, I came out to my parents. They nodded empathetically throughout my entire speech and told me repeatedly that it was okay. As I smiled and stood up, my dad asked, "But you're still going to marry a guy, right?" FML

No worries, OP. Your dad will realize you're serious when you start bringing girls home. Happy hunting!

You're so ignorant. I'm guessing you're a guy so imagine your straight and you had to be forced to marry a guy. Would you? Didn't think so. Its the same thing except the girl can't accept being with a guy.

Welcome the club ******. We have club jackets too.

I'm sorry :( They will come around eventually.

thats truly awful. you are free to marry any sex you please. fyl :(

He thinks its a phase...but it is not. Congrats for coming out and being strong enough to embrace your sexuality.

congratulations! at least your parents took it better than my grandparents. =]

Lesbos FTW. You have my support. Btdubbs keep your hair long nobody likes dykes

if your dad isn't cracking jokes about your relationship or bieng mean to be funny then he's not really bieng your dad. your still his son so y'all are gonna rip on each other

wait unless your a girl. then my bad that would be uncalled for.

Congratulations on coming out. I'm really sorry that happened, I know it's awful, my parents did the same thing - seemed like they were being supportive and then expected me continue acting straight. You might be regretting it, but it's over now and you don't have to do it (with them) ever again and you don't have to worry about it any more! Good luck with everything, have confidence in who you are. Not everybody is a ********.
