Today, I came out to my therapist as gay. Claiming that my parents "can't be that homophobic", my therapist outed me to them. They kicked me out of the house. FML

Today, I came out to my parents and siblings as gay. They were very accepting and asked me why I waited until I was 25 to do so. I didn't have the heart to tell them it was their own homophobic remarks that kept me closeted since I realized it at 14, and that a previous coming-out to a parent was dismissed as 'a phase'. FML

Today, I told my friends I had been hiding something that I wanted to come clean on. My one friend responds by saying, "FINALLY you come out of the closet. It's about time." I'm not gay. I was just going to tell them my parents were getting a divorce. FML

Today, I came out to my parents as gay and they reacted better than I expected. Then I found my car destroyed with a note that said "fag" on what used to be my hood. I never thought I'd have to sue my own family, but I'm lucky I have security footage. FML

Today, I finally opened up to my roommates about when I came out as gay to my parents, and how I was beaten and disowned over it. One roommate saw this as the perfect time to hit on me, since he's also gay and thought I was hot, but wasn't sure if I swung that way. Glad he was so invested in me pouring my guts out. FML

I'm so sorry you went through that. Nobody has the right to out another person, especially without their permission. That therapist broke patient confidentiality laws and needs to be reported and fired. They're a danger to not only you, but their other clients as well.

At least your therapist will be paying your rent considering you can sue them for...hang on they will be unemployed for breaking confidentiality and being fired for breaking the cardinal rule of therapy so will not be able to pay that rent.

Under normal circumstances, I am not one for lawsuits, at all, for this, do not stop at reporting and suing the therapist, unless this person is in private practice, sue the ever loving crap out of the business too.

I've experienced being a victim of a very lose lipped therapist... I was forced into seeing a therapist I didn't care for much... She told my mother everything so it was pretty much endless ammunition for my mother... Yey! I did discontinue seeing her but sadly I was too young and naive to realize I had the power to report her to the right people and she'd lose her license... and no she wasn't a cultist

Your therapist violated patient confidentiality and should be reported for that. Even if you are under 18, the therapist has no right to violate what goes on in sessions unless you are endangering yourself or someone else. I'm sorry, OP. I hope you find a safe place to go.

BTW, how stupid is that therapist that s/he doesn't know that parents CAN be that homophobic? A whole lot of GLBT+ kids have been kicked out of their homes when they came out or were outed.
