Today, I can't get my heat to turn off. It is currently 87 degrees Fahrenheit in my house, and my heat is running non-stop. It's about 20 degrees outside with over a foot of snow on the ground, so a repairman can't come out to fix it. My electricity bill will be about $1000. FML

Why can't they come fix it? It's called an emergency call, that's what they do. I can't believe a foot of snow is stopping any legitimate HVAC repairman from coming to your house. I would try calling someone else.

Open a window, that'll at least make it more comfortable.

shut the circuit breaker off for your electric heat stupid

There are things called circuit breakers, you know????? Pull the switch on the breaker!

Wow. I feel terrible for you. I can't even imagine living somewhere where a foot of snow or 20 degrees would shut down a town, especially heating services which are so critical in the cold. Don't you get any snow in MD, normally? For us up north, 20 -below- might shut down some things, but not not essential services. Suppose there's not much you can do except intermittently turn breakers off.

In Maryland we don't get much snow... So i guess you could say these weather conditions are different and whenever they happen, it's a big deal. And the amount of snow may reach in the "Top 5" rank for height because we are suppose to get 22"+. We also broke some December records so...

a foot of snow isn't that much, they will come if you deem it an emergency call, but you will have to pay extra. and it's only 20 degrees when there is a foot of snow?!? possible, but not likely. you could save yourself the extra money and turn off your circuit breaker...

at least your warm. you'd be complaining if it wasn't working at all! go outside and freeze your butt off.

do u live on the eastern coast cause we had like over a foot of snow today

You can just turn it off at the fuse box.
