Today, I can't get my heat to turn off. It is currently 87 degrees Fahrenheit in my house, and my heat is running non-stop. It's about 20 degrees outside with over a foot of snow on the ground, so a repairman can't come out to fix it. My electricity bill will be about $1000. FML

Why can't they come fix it? It's called an emergency call, that's what they do. I can't believe a foot of snow is stopping any legitimate HVAC repairman from coming to your house. I would try calling someone else.

Open a window, that'll at least make it more comfortable.

If you can't figure out how to fix something this simple (like everyone else says, flip the damn breaker) then you aren't really a man. Facial hair and testicles don't make you a man. Knowing how to take care of your own business makes you a man. If you have to wait for the "repairman" to come out and fix your problem... well, that makes you a woman. (And to all you women who fix your own stuff, congratulations. I'm proud of you. Maybe you can teach the OP a few things.)

even if the person turned the circuit off that's still no heat for a couple days in 20 degree weather with a ton of snow...

You know, you don't even have to turn the circuit off. Just blow out your pilot light, then re-light it when the heat drops. Seriously, YDI. You obviously have the internet and can't google how to do something like that?

There's got to be a way to cut the power to it. If you live in an apartment, call the landlord. If you're a homeowner, google that shit and figure it out. Unless it makes you feel rich to blow a grand on idiocy.

thats the best kind of -diocy to blow a grand on

Why not just locate the damn circuit breaker and turn it off and on inttermittently. Sure it'll be a pain in the ass but cheaper.

I totally understand!!! I'm in Maryland too! ITS AWEFUL RIGHT NOW! I'm sorry about your heater :( and the state of Maryland is practically closed down: all over the news they were asking drivers with four wheel drive cars/trucks if they could take hospital employees and public officials to work. I'm so sorry dude :(
