Today, I can't get my heat to turn off. It is currently 87 degrees Fahrenheit in my house, and my heat is running non-stop. It's about 20 degrees outside with over a foot of snow on the ground, so a repairman can't come out to fix it. My electricity bill will be about $1000. FML

Why can't they come fix it? It's called an emergency call, that's what they do. I can't believe a foot of snow is stopping any legitimate HVAC repairman from coming to your house. I would try calling someone else.

Open a window, that'll at least make it more comfortable.

Hey, dad says to go to the breaker box.

Are you kidding me? Where I live it's -34 celsius which is -20 in fahrenheit and there is about three feet of snow. GET OVER IT!

its actually almost -26, which only enforces your point.

Not to mention he made the same mistake he blasted me for... I am female. :) I realize our profiles do not specify, but that doesn't make it any less funny to me.

oh no. not a FOOT of snow! 20 degrees F is a beautiful day here. I agree with 119.

if it's an electric heater, flip the breaker off..... if it's gas.. turn the gas off... when it gets cold.. turn it back on

Wow! A whole foot of snow? That's sooo much. We got 86 inches in four days. Nothing shut down. School remained in session. The roads were fine. And 20 degrees? That would be a heat wave. I hate it when people complain about anything less that at least four feet of snow. Especially when they get it over a month. Try driving down a highway with a blizzard. It's intense.

the OP was explaining why the repairman wouldn't come out. Not the OP's fault so you don't have to be so rude.

Yeah I'm in Maryland too. But it's freezing in my room. :-/

Ummmm exagerate much? $1000 bucks for a heater running a couple of days on high??? I bet you have a 12 inch dick too

actually, BGE would charge 1000 for this. Not just one day, of course, but over the course of the month. They charge a LOT here.
