Today, I confronted my very passive-aggressive roommate about taking out the trash. With a smug smile, she insisted that I should write her a letter if I want to argue. FML

Dump all the trash in her room and leave a letter "You're with your people now"

Write a letter on the trash bag. Leave it for her to read. In her bed.

Don't you just wish you could kick her out... I'm sure she needs you as much as you need her (Unless you're college roommates. I would report her to the Dean or whatever).

With passive aggressive things, mostly, if you don't mind putting up with it, you can probably just ignore the notes and comments - but not when you are trying to change the passive aggressive person's behaviour.

Dear Roommate, You're now homeless! Sincerely, OP's fist.

I would have answered that I don't want to argue. I want her to be a ******* adult and take her turn putting out the trash.

Produce a post-it with the words "her a letter." On it.

And I would proceed to tell her that when it comes time to renew, her name will no longer be on the lease

Don't forget a paragraph about the fiery death of the universe should she not do her part.
