Today, I cut down a dead tree in my yard. The top hit the ground and the base seesawed up in the air and came down on my head. I hit the ground like a sack of flour. Fortunately, the wood was rotted and soft. Unfortunately, the chainsaw was still running. 28 stitches in my calf. FML

my dad is a professional, grew up around chain saws and that sucks but u are incredibly lucky stitches is the worst. we have put people in the ground, and I have met a few that have lost limbs. was told as a kid, this is why we don't play with them. get well soon.

Atleast it didn't go right through your leg..

Although that must really suck, I think you were lucky - you could easily have a broken neck or brain damage from the head-strike or could have lost something important to the saw. I suspect you may not have been trained to use the chainsaw 'cos watching professionals at work, they get back real fast after the tree starts to fall and the moment the saw is not in use it's killed. I guess this is the reason why. Cut-resistant trousers are apparently also compulsory if you use a CS in your job - at least in the UK.
