He has the right train of thought. I never can understand why people of plump proportions think changing their hair will make them look better. Not to be rude but if you're big no amount of glamorizing will make you look any better. Lose weight first, alter the rest later. Then maybe he will touch you again.
There are certainly healthy, fulfilling ways to do "whatever makes your [significant other] happy", but all of them involve self-respect, mutual respect, and reciprocation. I'm not into keeping score in a relationship; however, if this husband can't keep insensitive, potentially very hurtful comments to himself, or at the very least, express his concerns or preferences tactfully, why should she cater to him at all? IMO, responding by dieting solely because he suggested it would show that OP has an utter lack of self-respect. To be honest, it sounds rather codependent, too. Things like this can blur the line between being sweet and considerate to being a controlled, manipulated doormat very quickly.
