Today, I decided to introduce my girlfriend to my parents by telling them that we were gonna have a very special guest for dinner. While my mom was preparing the meal she asked, "What does he like?" I'm straight. My parents thought different. FML

what if they just thought it was a good friend...

I see your point... I've had male friends over for dinner and I am definitely not gay. And OP, besides, consider yourself lucky! If you ever decided to become gay (haha or even bi) at least you know your parents are accepting!

I don't think your parents assumed you were gay. I think, unless you've had a gf in the house before, they were just assuming it was a guy friend. Don't let it get to you!

Either they thought it was a guy friend, or they did think you're gay. In either case, I don't see why this is an FML.

So what? Your parents are accepting, and you said the words "Very special guest." Very special guest is one of the gayest phrases in the english language. If it had been accompanied by a handflip, they'd have been crazy NOT to assume you were gay.

You weren't clear. I wouldn't understand what "a special guest" meant either. I would have thought your best friend or teacher was coming. You should have been clear by saying a girl is coming. That way they'd understand. You're probably really young, so they don't think relationships are all that serious.

Straight guys dont say "special guest"

So no one here thinks that there was any conversation and clarification beyond the parent's asking "So what does he like?" I'm sure there was, hence why he says his parents thought he was gay. Sucks to be you, dude.

Men with any resemblance of security in their sexuality don't avoid the words "special guest" because it makes them sound gay. Yes, you.
