Today, I decided to tell my mother what I thought about religion. I've been raised catholic. I told her I was converting to Wicca, to which she sort of nodded and walked away. I went into my room to study with my earbuds in, music loud. I walked out to see a cross nailed above my door. FML

I sense a big theological debate in the works on this one any minute now oh and atleast she didnt throw holy water on you screaming THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELLS YOU!!!!!!!!!

#14: I judge all religion as bad for society, but there are some that are worse than others. #11: Google's your friend, but it's one of the Pagan religions, based around peace with nature and all living things. Its beliefs including never harming any living being except for food or self defense and the "Rule of Three" which states that if you hurt someone, you'll get hurt back three times as bad (and likewise, if you do good, good will come to you three times as strong). As far as religions go, it's probably one of the best out there.

#60 and 61, she may be retarted, but y'all are obviously ignorant idiots yourselves.

Your religion, like your sexual life, shouldn't be made any of your mother's business.

I have to agree with the FYL on the account you had to be raised Catholic, and most of them are pretty misunderstanding when it comes to other religions. I don't know much about Wicca, but isn't it a witch craft type religion? Well, wherever you end up, hope its not hell anyway.

Wicca is even more retarded than any other faith. It isn't even a faith. It's some sort of Harry potter rip-off. YDI for being completly stupid.

Judging by these responses, don't tell people you're Wiccan. Just say you're a pantheist (the natural world divine). Blessed be. I'm sorry your mother is not someone who respects the beliefs of others. To help her understand, explain you know magick isn't real -- spells are just a more involved method of prayer.

Eh, all religions are passing fads.

LMAO, sorry I'm Hispanic...I know what you mean, I got a similar response when I said I was simply Christian and not really Catholic. But realistically, you should have seen it coming.

You can use that to your advantage. Crosses do have pagan meanings behind them. Research what it is and accept it into your life.

P.S. #43 -- I grew up in a family of Catholics. People who don't agree with birth control, women's ordination, or letting priests marry, while stubbornly insisting transubstantiation is NOT metaphorical? Pretty intolerant to me. But you don't judge a religion by individuals.

Good for you :). It's good you told your mother about your beliefs. So sorry to hear she's so ignorant and intolerant though. I'm not a religious person, but I believe in God. Wow @ all this bickering. There's no need to be condescending towards people who do follow a different religion. I think that's a big problem religious people have- they don't know how to respect people whose views differ from theirs. I like the way #33 thinks :).
